The anime is based off the American TV drama horror series, ’Supernatural’, that begun airing in 2005. The story revolves around two brothers, older brother Dean, and younger brother Sam, who travelled across America challenging the ‘paranormal’ to solve the mystery of their mother’s death. The series depicted stories and legends from some of the most famous towns in the US, as well as some tense action scenes between the brothers and the demons they faced. The show is most known for its writing, which moved and wowed many viewers, making it an extremely popular show during its run in the US.
Gackt will be playing the voice of Andy, a child blessed with the powers of demons, who at the same time must use his powers to destroy them (Andy appeared near the final episodes of the first season in the TV drama). Gackt’s reasoning for playing the part was mainly due to his deep appreciation and interest in American & foreign dramas, as well as for the story of Supernatural. This isn’t the first time Gackt has voice acted for a TV series however; he also was a voice actor for the anime series, Shiki, which aired last year from July to December.
The anime version of Supernatural (22 episodes) will release on Blu-Ray and DVD starting with the first set of episodes, episode 1 and 2, on February 23, 2011, for the selling price of 980 yen (roughly $11)."> Musical artist Gackt reported today that he will be lending his superstar voice to an upcoming new anime called, ‘Supernatural’.
